It’s fair to say that velvet’s having a moment in the world of home decor. Visit any high street store and you won’t be able to move for upholstered furniture, textiles and accessories made from the different variations of velvet.
You’ll find elegant matt velvet curtains, sumptuous deep pile velvet sofa covers and luxurious crushed velvet throws – the textile is certainly trending!
In this article, I’m sharing tonnes of inspiration and some of my favourite velvet pieces currently available.
Eulia velvet bed frame – Made.com
Looking for a showstopping, modern bed frame? Check out the Eulia by Made.com. The company crafted this double bed from pretty seafoam blue velvet and it features striking metallic feet – we challenge you to find a more contemporary bed on the market! Don’t you just love the simple-yet-effective softly rounded edges of the headboard? This bed also comes in a dusty shade of blush pink and a dark and stormy grey.
At the time of writing, Made.com have reduced the Eulia double bed in seafoam blue to just £279 (was £499). The other colours are on sale, but more expensive. Click here to shop.
Green velvet Perle couch – Sofology
We just love how Sofology have styled their Perle couch in this press image. The green-on-green colour scheme is striking – and very on-trend. The effect is moody-yet-opulent.
Sofology sells lots of furniture in the Perle range – everything from the loveseat pictured above to a large corner sofa that’ll easily sit four or five people. Not a big fan of green? You’ll be pleased to know the company stock the Perle range in a number of different jewel tones. Maybe you’ll prefer turmeric, platinum or rose? Click here to view.
Ruby velvet Palace sofa – DFS
We’ve just seen dark, moody and tonal – so now it’s time for something a little different from DFS. For this press image, the company accessorised a ‘ruby red’ velvet sofa with orange cushions in varying plush and matt textures. The sofa is the main focal piece thanks to the pastel-colours used throughout the room decor.
The red and orange sofa looks striking against the pale pink; the analogous colours work well together. The blue tones (in the walls, artwork and floor cushions) cool things down while the geometric prints provide a modern finish.
This sofa comes in 13 different colours and can be found on the DFS website. Click here to view more.
Pink velvet scoop tub chair – John Lewis
If you don’t want to replace your sofa, consider using a velvet tub chair as an accent piece instead. It could be placed in your living room or snug.
We love the soft and dreamy shade pink chair pictured above from John Lewis. The colour is on-trend, but we can’t see it looking dated any time soon. We love how the company styled the pink with shades of yellow (a big upcoming trend), soft blue-grey and cream.
Not into pink? John Lewis sells the chair in light grey too. It currently retails for £225. Click here to view.
Velvet ottoman benches – Made.com
This is the ottoman bench of my dreams. I’d place it in front of a matching sofa like a footstool – but nobody would be allowed to put their feet on it… oh no!
Then, I’d purchase this storage ottoman for the bottom of my bed and fill it full of spare blankets, linens and cushions.
Made.com sell dozens of ottoman benches in velvet fabrics. Dozens! Some have storage underneath, some don’t. They come in lots of pretty jewel tones and pastel shades. There’s a colour to suit every taste.
Prices start from £199 (as the Evadine in blush pink velvet is on clearance at the time of hitting publish). Click here to view the full range.
